Screenings from secondary care started towards the end of 2012. The DHB are actively sending CVD Risk Assessment messages out to practices. WDHB practices need to ensure that their mappings have been completed.

Plans are currently underway with the DHB, the expected start date for screeings within the hospital setting is May 2013. Practices are encouraged to apply the screening mapping utilites as soon as they can.

Secondary Care screening activity has started within the Whangarei hospital Diabetes Specialist clinic. This activity does not primarily have a focus on CVD Risk assessment, instead their services are geared towards delivering management services to their Diabetic patients.
They do however utilise the same mechanism to send PREDICT documents (including the CVD Risk value) back into Primary Care clinics. Most practices in Northland have already had their mappings performed by PHO support staff in order to assist with their PHO community screening efforts.
The Northern Region Cardiac Network have expressed intentions to start hospital based CVD risk screenings in Northland; however plans are at a very early stage, so any large scale througput from the hospitals is unlikely to occur until at least Q2, 2013.
